I managed the Nalangu ceremony for my cousin sister, Asha during the CNY holidays. For those who do not know, “Nalangu” is the pre-wedding ceremony for Indian marriages. This ceremony is performed in odd numbers, which means it can be done for 1 day, 3 days or even 5 days. There are many reasons to hold a Nalangu ceremony but the main reason is for the elders in the family to shower blessings to the bride or bridegroom before the wedding. It is also a form of protection for the bride and bridegroom before the wedding day.
Asha’s Nalangu was held for 2 days as the third Nalangu will be done during the wedding. I arranged the decor, catering and canopy. After a round of discussions with Asha and her family, I realised she wanted a colourful ambience to the hall and a blue-pink theme for the 1st-night room. Here are the pictures of the work I did.
